The Two Minutes silence
This is the first poem written by Reg that we have found. He was age 14 when he wrote this poem to honor those who gave their lives in WWI - this is a very mature poem for his tender years.

St. James Church, Yarmouth, Isle of Wight.
As a young boy, age about 10, Reg was evacuated from London to the Isle of Wight for a while during WW1 - this poem is based on those memories. He was a choirboy at St James Church, Yarmouth which was built circe 1614. Admiral Holmes was Governor of the Isle of Wight in the late 17th Century. The statue he refers to was actually of King Louis XlV not Napoleon and it happened about a hundred years before Napoleon's time but it's close enough and not bad for a ten year old's memory !
